In 1995, Newcomers High School was established in Queens, New York, to provide immigrant students with a rigorous instructional program, in a supportive learning environment in their new country. The school supports each student in identifying abilities, strengths, needs and interests. In addition to promoting academic, artistic, and athletic excellence, our instructional program emphasizes: English language acquisition, the development of core academic skills, development of critical thinking skills, preparation for college readiness, the appreciation of cultural diversity, respect for all, service learning, and civil rights.
